Mr. von Tonchin has held several different positions during his 27 years with Airbus.


Oliver joined Airbus in 1990 with the Customer Support division in Hamburg, Germany where he was responsible for the marketing of goods and services in the Airbus Material Support Center as well as for the planning of components, standard hardware, tools and Ground Support Equipment (/GSE).


In 2000 Oliver joined the Commercial team in the Airbus Headquarter in Toulouse where he was a member of the product marketing group that performed the initial studies on launching the A330-200F in 2001. Afterwards he moved to customer marketing where he was responsible for different airline accounts in Europe and the Middle East. In 2006 Oliver transferred to the Airbus Americas office in Washington D.C. where he was in charge for most of the freighter accounts in North America and he became the focal point for freight and cargo activities. In May 2012 Oliver went back to the Airbus Headquarter in Toulouse to work in the Airbus Freighter Business Unit where he was responsible for the freighter product development, airline marketing to cargo airlines in Asia and the coordination of various other freight related activities worldwide. In January 2016 Oliver became the Head of Freighter Marketing for all Airbus freighter activities worldwide.


Oliver holds a master degree in Air Transport Management from Cranfield University (U.K) and a bachelor degree in Economics and Engineering from the Nordakademie (FH) in Germany.
